New Sight words:  how, were

In Math we have been making sets of 10 and working on combinations of 10.  Today your child took home a mouse activity.  How many mice are on the couch?  How many mice are on the floor? so if you have 4 on the couch and 6 on the floor that is a combination of 10.  Please get you child to tell you about your work.

Hopefully it will be a nice day and we will get to go for out tail walk Friday afternoon.

Students have taken home their independent writing they did today in class.  Please have them read it to you.  Expectations for the year end are that students be able to write one or two fulll sentences independently.

As well, students have taken home their sight word rings.  These are to stay at home so they can use them for practice now and over the summer months.  Students will be given a new individual word wall to use in daily writing.

New sight words this week:  our, there

Today we had our author celebration.  It was fun to listen to each other's writing.  Don't forget to look at our pictures. Please listen to the writing we shared today, it is in our communication bag with a star sticker on it.  As well we got new bookmarks to use at home.

The new sight words this week: as, an, us, if, him.  We had the challenge of learning a word a day!  Great work students!  We have been learning how to revise and edit our writing.  We will be having our author's celebration next week.

In math we continue to work with combinations.  This week we did combinations of 8, we continue practicing counting on, counting back and starting and stopping counting at random numerals.

Jump Rope For Heart kickoff was very exciting for students.  Keep skipping the big day is May 17th.
