Mr. Burrell

We had a fun day of holiday activities on Sunday at BPS. Thank you parents for your support to Mrs. Lloyd for baking a delicious treat!

Kings Landing was fun and informative. The students learned about holiday traditions of past, participated in many activities, made some crafts and tasted a few old time traditions.

Turkey Dinner is on Thursday. Students in grade 2 who have purchased tickets can begin lunch in the cafeteria at 11:30. (Tickets had to be purchased by Dec 7th).

We are continuing with our Traditions presentations this week. The rubrics will be going home with those presenting this week.

Music rehearsal for the Christmas concert will take place this week with Mrs. T. The grade 2's should have their song lyrics in the home bags.

Math – we are going to wrap up for current unit (Numbers to 100) over this week and complete some post assessments next week. I will be posting more websites that the students will enjoy playing.

Literacy – We are wrapping up (no pun intended) our CAFÉ strategies by reading the Polar Express. It is a fantastic way to review all strategies from this year. For writing, this week students will work on publishing another piece for an author’s celebration on Friday. We will revisit our revision and editing strategies and review spelling. During the last week, all grade 2’s will get the opportunity for some creative writing about their trip to Kings Landing.

Tomorrow, Decmber 7th we are heading to Kings Landing for the day. We will be leaving around 8:30. Please dress your child appropriate as the activities can be chilly. Students must bring a bag lunch as well for the trip.

December Scholastic Orders are due on Dec 5th so they can arrive before the break. If you would like to order anything as a gift please let me know.

Kings Landing Field Trip will take place on Dec 7th. Students are asked to dress warm/ for the weather as the activities can be outside. Please pack a lunch as we will be eating there before returning to school.

Holiday Fun Day is at BPS on Dec 9th @ 1:30 – 4:00. Drop off your child and get some holiday chores done!

Traditions Project – Students have begun to present their traditions projects. If you do not yet have a time, please check your child’s home bag for an update.

Please check the class homepage for new websites and games to play at home for math. This week will are working on estimating up to 100 using sets, comparing and representing numbers to 100. For mental math we are focusing on counting on by 1, 2, 3 and doubles up to 20.

Mr. Carragher is taking over more teaching duties this week and will have the class full time by Thursday.
