We've started a little acquarium online. If you would like to check it out, go to the website below and you can sign in with our user name and password. Our little sea friends will need to be fed on weekends and through the summer :)
As a year end event, the grade 1 classes will be having a water fun day on Thursday, June 16th, with a subject focus on Phys.Ed. There will be races, water games, and a water competition (using spray bottles...no water guns allowed at school). We will be having a picnic outside and tie dye a t-shirt for each student as well.
Time: June 16 at 10:30 - 12:00 (rain date: June 17)
Your child is allowed to wear a bathing suit, but girls, no bikinis please. Each child should have a change of clothes to change into afterward. Sunscreen in a good idea too.
What we need from you:
Please send a white or light coloured t-shirt with your child. It does not have to be new or if it has a logo but cotton material will accept the dye the best. Please write their name on the tag if possible.
At the beginning of each math class the students have been practicing all of the addition and subtraction facts to 12. The students are expected to be able to recall these quickly and accurately.
For the month of May we would like all of the students to be able to recall the facts quickly and accurately. Please take a few minutes each evening and ask your child some of the facts. You can use flashcards, math websites and you can call out the problems orally.
If there is any hesitation, please remind your child of one of the mental math strategies that could be used to easily solve the problem.
The goal of mental math is to have your child recall these basic facts to 12. The more your child practices the easier and more quickly he/she will be able to recall the correct answer.
